Wander through the picturesque little streets of the historic towns in the region, such as Hoorn, Enkhuizen, Medemblik, Marken and Volendam or, of course, Amsterdam. Or take a ride on a steam tram and combine this with the Zuiderzee museum in Enkhuizen.
Walking
Enjoy North Holland’s many diverse walking routes. These often follow green dikes and quiet country roads, or go straight through the pastures. There is a great deal of natural outdoors beauty in this province.
In the course of a walk you can enjoy numerous types of landscape, often with subtle gradients and beautiful views. It is in fact easy to walk for kilometres without encountering a road or village.
Cycling
Cycling in beautiful North Holland, through the Waterland, West Friesland or Kennemerland, or cycling through the dunes.
North Holland has a varied landscape, with large natural and recreational areas, woods and lakes, historical cultural treasures and other attractions. Enjoy the area’s wonderful cycle paths.
Farm golf
Farm golf is a variation on regular golf, played on a 10-hole course laid out on a farm. A clog on a handle is the golf club, and a small football is the golf ball. The aim is to complete the course in the fewest possible number of strokes. The course is varied, with natural obstacles such as cows, watercourses and cow pats to provide the comical moments.

What are electric boats?
Electric boats are small open boats equipped with a silent electric motor, running off a battery. You steer your boat yourself. The motor and the route will be explained to you before you set out. Electric boats are suitable for up to five people. With a fully-charged battery you can sail for seven hours.
Where can I use the electric boats?
You can follow various routes in the area between Amsterdam and Monnickendam. There are a variety of mooring places along the way. Electric boats are not suitable for the more open waters of the IJsselmeer, or for the IJ river. Electric boats can be hired from the following addresses:

The boats can be used between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.. In the weekend they can only be used in the mornings, up to 2 p.m. A deposit of € 50 (in cash) per boat is required.
